Buying a pair of trucks is always worth extra consideration as this is the most hard wearing and long lasting component on a skateboard. A truck is typically made up of an aluminium hanger with steel axle, aluminium baseplate, urethane bushings and they are held together with an adjustable steel kingpin bolt.

  • Size. All trucks come in different widths but for some reason the truck manufacturers have never agreed on a common measurement system. To make things simpler for you we list all trucks here with an axle size in inches which you should try to match to the width of your deck. If you cannot find the exact width it is perfectly fine to have a truck that is either 0.13" wider or narrower than the deck. Some companies offer their trucks in standard and mid or low heights. The height to choose is a matter of personal preference but we would recommend skaters that like loose trucks or big wheels steer clear of the lower trucks.
  • Weight. A recent trend has been for trucks to come in a variety of weight saving options which tend to cost more the less they weigh. The main methods used to reduce weight include forged baseplates as opposed to cast and hollow steel or titanium kingpins and/or axles. It's up to you wether you want to pay extra for lighter trucks and we find many skaters prefer the feel of heavier traditional trucks.
  • Brand. Skateboarders will often have their favourite brand based on each companies unique geometry and how the trucks feel when they turn and grind. Once getting used to a truck most are reluctant to change as new trucks take can take time to break in and adjust to. By far the most popular brands at No Chaos are Ace, Independent, Thunder and Venture. We would encourage you to check out their teams and support the brands that are backing the skaters that make you want to skate.
